The somewhat dusty image of the industry and its dry subject matter are given a modern touch and a welcome refresh through the logo and print design. This ensures a positive and effective perception in the market.

As a full-service provider for the planning, funding procurement, and inspection of rail connections between the public railway network and manufacturing companies, ERFA Gleisanschluss GmbH (Prien am Chiemsee, Germany) has stood for safety, reliability, and stability for many years. The new brand "my EBL course," initiated by ERFA, offers innovative training to become a railway operations manager for non-public railways using modern hybrid learning.


We were hired to design the logo and the print design of the 700-page participant manual. "my EBL course" takes on an innovative role in the market through e-learning and, thanks to its design, is perceived as a modern player in a conservative environment.

The logo design reflects the clear, objective character of the brand while still appearing dynamic and modern. The logo also combines several important aspects:

  •  The suggested German flag marks the exclusive focus on the German market. A possible color adaptation of the flag also allows for the brand to expand into other countries in the future.
  •  The white space between the flag colors forms a rail connection (in the black bar) to the public rail network (white space between yellow-red and red-black). This skillful use of white space creates an interesting visual effect.
  •  "my EBL course" offers customized preparation for final exam interviews. This high degree of customization is reflected in the logo design's bars of varying lengths.
  •  Slanted bars add even more dynamism to the logo design, which underlines the innovative role of hybrid learning.

This logo skillfully bridges the gap between conservative decision-makers in the industry and young students who want and expect a modern education.

The participant manual comprises just over 700 pages in seven modules and features well-thought-out navigation and a consistent typography scheme.


The sans serif Titillium, which is also used in the logo and scores with many different cuts, is a technical-looking grotesque typeface that is easy to read even in small sizes thanks to its high x-height.


The diagonally cut color bars from the logo can be found throughout the participant manual and structure it into numerous modules and chapters for user-friendly orientation.
